We spent Kaylee's 16th month celebration in Primary Children's Hospital. It wasn't very fun to see our baby hooked up to an IV! Kaylee had a fever the night before and was having a hard time breathing. After taking her to the doctor for a check-up we were surprised to find out that she was anemic. They sent us right up to Primary's for blood transfusions. We were there from Tuesday to Saturday. During this time Kaylee had lots of blood work done for testing, 5 different IV's since her veins were so little and the blood kept clotting, they put her out to do a bone marrow biopsy (that at least ruled out leukemia and other not so fun blood disorders) and still never did find out a cause for the craziness. Kaylee was very brave in a very scary situation. She loved having visitors- especially the four legged ones that came to make her feel welcomed at the hospital. Last week we went back up for a check-up. She is starting to make her own blood, slowly but surely, so that is a very positive thing. We will do blood work every week until things are back to normal. We feel very blessed and are grateful to have our little Kaylee
doing better.
Yikes! So sorry to hear about this. It is so wonderful to have access to Primary Children's at times like these, though. Love the pics with the dogs. I didn't know they had dogs visit up there. How fun, in a yucky situation.
ReplyDeleteWe're thinking of you!
It was hard to see your little Kaylee hooked to IV. Glad she is on the mend. You're in our prayers!
ReplyDeleteScary! Hope things are going better. She is so very brave (as are mom and dad!) Sending my prayers.
ReplyDeleteGlad she's doing better! Why are dogs allowed in a hospital?
